Privacy Policy

PrimePrep ("PrimePrep," "we," "us," or "our") is operated by Bent Tree LLC, a California limited liability company. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

We've tried to write this in plain English. If anything is unclear, email us at primeprepapp@gmail.com and we'll explain.

The short version

  • PrimePrep is a SAT prep tool for high school students. Parents create accounts and add one or more students.
  • We collect only what we need to make the product work: parent contact info, a student code or name, and the student's practice data (which words they've studied, test scores, streak, etc.).
  • We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. We don't use it to train AI models.
  • You can delete your account and your data at any time by emailing us.

Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to parents who create PrimePrep accounts and to the students (one or more per account) whose accounts are created and managed by their parents.

PrimePrep is designed for students age 13 and older preparing for the SAT. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email us and we will delete it.

What we collect

From parents:

  • Email address (for your account and to contact you about the service)
  • Payment information, if you purchase a paid plan — this is collected and stored by our payment processor, Stripe. We do not see or store your full card number.
  • Any messages you send us (support emails, feedback)

From students (one or more per parent account):

  • A student code or first name, chosen by the parent
  • Practice activity: vocabulary words studied, self-ratings (again / hard / good / easy), test responses, scores, streak data, time spent practicing

Automatically, when anyone uses the site:

  • Basic technical information: browser type, device type, IP address, pages visited, timestamps. This is standard web server and analytics data.
  • Cookies and similar technologies used to keep you logged in and remember your preferences.

We do not collect:

  • Student email addresses
  • Student phone numbers
  • Real names of students (unless a parent chooses to use one as the student identifier)
  • School information
  • Grade level or age, beyond the general confirmation that the student is preparing for the SAT
  • Precise location data

How we use it

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide the PrimePrep service (track progress, show the right words, resume where the student left off)
  • Let parents see their student's progress through the parent dashboard
  • Send you account-related emails (receipts, important service updates)
  • Respond to your questions and support requests
  • Improve the product by understanding which features are used and where students get stuck
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents

We do not use your information for advertising. We do not sell it. We do not share it with data brokers. We do not use it to train machine learning or AI models.

Who we share it with

We share information only with service providers that help us run PrimePrep, and only to the extent they need to do their job:

  • Stripe — processes payments for paid purchases
  • Vercel — hosts our website and application
  • Neon — provides the database where we store account and practice data
  • Google (Gmail) — delivers emails we send to you

These companies are bound by their own privacy and security obligations. We do not sell data to them or allow them to use your data for their own marketing.

We may also disclose information if legally required to (for example, in response to a valid court order), or to protect the rights, safety, or property of PrimePrep, our users, or others.

If PrimePrep is ever acquired or merged with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We'll notify you by email if this happens.

How long we keep it

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your practice data and student information within 30 days. We may keep basic records of payments (as required by tax and accounting laws) for up to 7 years.

Your rights and choices

You can:

  • Access your account information by logging in, or by emailing us for a copy
  • Correct information by updating it in your account or emailing us
  • Delete your account and associated data by emailing us — we'll confirm and complete deletion within 30 days
  • Export your practice data by emailing us — we'll send it as a CSV or JSON file
  • Opt out of non-essential emails using the unsubscribe link in any promotional email, or by emailing us. We'll still send you transactional emails (receipts, account security) while your account is active.

California residents

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we have collected about you, the right to delete it, the right to correct it, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To exercise any of these rights, email primeprepapp@gmail.com from the email address associated with your account.

We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

Students under 18

PrimePrep is designed to be used with parent involvement. Parents are the account holders. A student who is under 18 and wants their data deleted should ask their parent, who controls the account. If there's a situation where a student needs to contact us directly about their data, email primeprepapp@gmail.com and we'll help.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information: HTTPS everywhere, encrypted storage at our database provider, limited access to production systems (currently, just the founder), and standard security practices. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee that a determined attacker couldn't access your data. If we ever discover a breach that affects you, we'll notify you as required by California law.

Cookies

We use cookies to keep you logged in and to remember your preferences. We use a small amount of analytics to understand how the product is used. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies.

You can disable cookies in your browser, but parts of PrimePrep may not work correctly without them.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll email account holders and post an updated version here. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
